Museum of the Unnoticed
Sofie Josefsson, born in Gothenburg, Sweden, lives and works in Malmö. She holds an MFA from Malmö Art Academy (2002). Josefsson's paintings present a visual language that navigates between abstraction and figuration. Her work is characterized by a tactile immediacy and emotional depth, where material and gesture converge to evoke both vulnerability and resilience. Most recently, she was included in a group exhibition at Gallery Thomas Wallner, in 2025. This marks Josefsson’s first solo exhibition at Saskia Neuman Gallery.
Elevated on an antique pedestal. Wounds that have solidified and been painted over with new shades from the same family. Traces of leftover chaos, warm and cold. In some places, the raw canvas’s own beauty, and in others, layer upon layer. Thick sticky lumps straight from the tube to avoid being neat. It will be fine. Everything dries with time or is thinned out by toxic solvents. The paint is paint that imagines itself.
